## Biography

Bob Locke is a British composer, best known as one half of the duo The Insects alongside Tim Norfolk. Formerly active as the band Startled Insects in the 1980s and early 1990s, they later focused on film and television scoring.

The pair began composing for wildlife documentaries produced by the BBC Natural History Unit and National Geographic in the early 1990s. They received an Emmy Award for their score to the National Geographic special *Arctic Kingdom: Life at the Edge*. Subsequent credits include the feature films *Love and Death on Long Island* (1998), *Owning Mahowny* (2003) — for which the music received a Genie Award nomination — *Creep* (2004) and *XX/XY* (2002), as well as television series such as *Wire in the Blood*, *Death Comes to Pemberley* (2013), *Hanna* (2019–2020) and *Devs* (2020).

As producers and songwriters they contributed to recordings by Massive Attack and others.
