## Biography

Bohumil Heš was a Czech production designer, art director and occasional costume designer, also credited as Bohumil Hoesch or Gottlieb Hesch. Born in Prague in 1889, he began working in the German film industry in the early 1920s.

He contributed art direction to *Nju* (1924) and served as both art director and costume designer on G. W. Pabst’s *Pandora’s Box* (1929). Around 1929 he returned to Czechoslovakia, where he worked on approximately sixty films, including *Ecstasy* (1933).

He continued designing for Czech and German productions during the occupation, using the name Gottlieb Hesch, and remained active until the early 1950s. He died in Prague in 1970.
