## Biography

Bolesław Sulik was a Polish screenwriter, director, editor and journalist. Born in Toruń in 1929, he left Poland after the Second World War and settled in Britain, where he worked as a film critic for Tribune and wrote screenplays.

He co-wrote the screenplay for Jerzy Skolimowski’s *Deep End* (1970) and collaborated with Andrzej Wajda on the script for *The Shadow Line* (1976). Sulik also directed documentaries, including *In Solidarity* (1991) for the BBC. He returned to Poland in 1991 and chaired the National Council for Radio and Television from 1993 to 1999.

Sulik died in 2012.
