He wrote the teleplay for the *Star Trek* first-season episode "The Return of the Archons" (1967), based on a story by Gene Roddenberry. His other credits include episodes of *The Alfred Hitchcock Hour* (1964), *The Man from U.N.C.L.E.* (1967), *Dr. Kildare* (1964–1965), *Thriller* (1961–1962), *The Girl from U.N.C.L.E.* (1966–1967), *Run for Your Life* (1966) and *Mannix* (1971). Sobelman received two Writers Guild of America nominations, for episodic comedy on *Dr. Kildare* in 1966 and episodic drama on *Star Trek* in 1968.
