## Biography

Brandon Scott Trost (born 29 August 1981) is an American cinematographer and director. He was born in Los Angeles, California, where his father worked as a special effects coordinator, and trained at the Los Angeles Film School.

Trost began his career on independent films including *Crank: High Voltage* (2009) and *MacGruber* (2010). He has frequently collaborated with Seth Rogen as director of photography on *This Is the End* (2013), *Neighbors* (2014), *The Interview* (2014) and *Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising* (2016). He also directed *The FP* (2011) with his brother Jason Trost and made his solo directorial debut with *An American Pickle* (2020).

His recent credits as cinematographer include *Sonic the Hedgehog 2* (2022), *Nightbitch* (2024), *Sonic the Hedgehog 3* (2024) and *The Naked Gun* (2025). He won the Sundance Film Festival Cinematography Award (Dramatic) for *The Diary of a Teenage Girl* (2015).
