## Biography

Brett Matthews is an American television writer and producer. He graduated from Wesleyan University in 1999 and began his career as an assistant to Joss Whedon on series including *Buffy the Vampire Slayer*, *Angel* and *Firefly*.

Matthews served as executive story editor and writer on *Supernatural* (2005). He joined *The Vampire Diaries* (2009) as co-producer, rising to supervising producer and co-executive producer while writing multiple episodes. He was executive producer and showrunner on *Legacies* (2018), and has worked as executive producer and writer on *Scream: The TV Series* (2015) and other series.
