Brian Alan Lane is a writer and producer whose television credits include episodes of *Star Trek: The Next Generation* (1988), *Remington Steele* (1983–1984), *MacGyver* (1986), *Matlock* (1993–1994) and *Blue Thunder* (1984). Lane also served as story editor on *Remington Steele* and producer on *Hunter* (1985).

Lane created the short-lived series *Hollywood Detective* (1991) for A&E, on which Lane was credited as Scott Curtis. Later work includes the television films *The Girl from Mars* (1991) and *Out of Time* (1988).

Lane was born on 16 November 1953 in Los Angeles. Lane later worked as a tenured professor of writing at California State University, Long Beach, and as an attorney and novelist.
