## Biography

Brian Clemens was an English screenwriter and television producer. Born in Croydon, Surrey, he began his career writing scripts for low-budget films and series in the 1950s, later contributing to espionage and adventure programmes including *The Avengers* (1961), for which he wrote episodes and served as script editor and associate producer.

He created the spin-off series *The New Avengers* (1976) and *The Professionals* (1977). His film credits include the story for *Highlander II: The Quickening* (1991) and screenplays for *The Golden Voyage of Sinbad* (1973) and *The Watcher in the Woods* (1980). He also wrote for *Bergerac* (1981) and other series such as *The Persuaders!* (1971).

Clemens was appointed OBE in 2010 for services to broadcasting and drama.
