Brian Delate is an American actor born on 8 April 1949 in Trenton, New Jersey. He served in the Vietnam War before training at Rider University, where he received a BFA in theatre. After moving to New York City, his first professional stage work came in 1981 with the New York Shakespeare Festival in Central Park productions of *Henry IV, Part I* and *The Tempest*.

Delate is known for film roles including Guard Dekins in *The Shawshank Redemption* (1994), Walter Moore / Kirk Burbank in *The Truman Show* (1998), and Detective O'Connor in *The Brave One* (2007). He has also appeared in numerous episodes of the *Law & Order* franchise and has an extensive stage career, including acclaimed work in *Tracers* in New York and London, and a Broadway production of *Salome* with Al Pacino.
