## Biography

Brian Keith (14 November 1921 – 24 June 1997) was an American actor. The son of character actor Robert Keith, he began performing on stage and in radio as a child, appeared in a silent film at the age of three, and served in the United States Marine Corps during the Second World War before resuming his career after 1945.

He played Police Chief Link Mattocks in the 1966 comedy *The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming*. Other film roles include Mitch Evers in *The Parent Trap* (1961), Jonas Cord in *Nevada Smith* (1966), George Tanner in *The Yakuza* (1974) and Theodore Roosevelt in *The Wind and the Lion* (1975). On television he portrayed Bill Davis in the sitcom *Family Affair* (1966–1971) and Judge Milton C. Hardcastle in *Hardcastle and McCormick* (1983–1986), and voiced Uncle Ben in the animated series *Spider-Man* (1994).
