## Biography

Brian Parker was a British television director and actor. Born in Leeds, Yorkshire, he began his career as an actor in the 1940s before moving into directing in the 1960s.

He directed episodes of series including *Z-Cars* (1962), *Upstairs, Downstairs* (1971), *Inspector Morse* (1987), *Emmerdale* (1972) and *The Bill* (1984), as well as numerous single plays for *The Wednesday Play* and *Play for Today*. He also directed *The Beiderbecke Tapes* (1987). Early in his career he appeared as an actor in episodes of *Z-Cars* and other series.

Parker won the award for Best Direction at the 1979 Prague International Television Festival for his work on the play *Donal and Sally* (1978). He died on 8 December 2020.
