## Biography

Brian Probyn (1920–1982) was a British cinematographer. He began his career as a camera assistant and operator, including work for the BBC, before becoming a director of photography on feature films and documentaries in the 1960s.

His credits include *Poor Cow* (1967), *Downhill Racer* (1969), *Badlands* (1973), *The Satanic Rites of Dracula* (1973) and *Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell* (1974). He was a member of the British Society of Cinematographers. Probyn moved to Australia in 1973, where he continued working on films and taught cinematography at the Australian Film and Television School.
