## Biography

Brian Thomson is an Australian scenic and production designer. Born on 5 January 1946 in Sydney, he began working in theatre after meeting director Jim Sharman in 1969. Their collaboration included stage productions of *Hair* and *Jesus Christ Superstar*.

Thomson created the sets for the original stage version of *The Rocky Horror Show* in multiple cities and served as production designer on its 1975 film adaptation. He also worked on the 1981 sequel *Shock Treatment*. His film credits include *Starstruck* (1982), *Rebel* (1985) and *Ground Zero* (1987).

In theatre he has designed for Broadway, including a Tony Award-winning scenic design for the 1996 revival of *The King and I*, and for numerous Australian productions such as *Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical*. He has also designed opera and large-scale events including the closing ceremony of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
