Brit Marling is an American actress and screenwriter. She was born on 7 August 1982 in Chicago, Illinois, and graduated from Georgetown University in 2005 with degrees in economics and studio art, serving as her class valedictorian.

Marling rose to prominence after co-writing and starring in the independent films *Sound of My Voice* (2011) and *Another Earth* (2011), both of which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. She collaborated again with director Zal Batmanglij on *The East* (2013). She co-created, wrote and starred in the Netflix series *The OA* (2016–2019) and the miniseries *A Murder at the End of the World* (2023).

In 2026 she voiced the USS Athena computer in the series *Star Trek: Starfleet Academy*.
