## Biography

Bruce Gilbert is an American film producer and writer. Born on 28 March 1947 in Del Mar, California, he studied psychology at Boston University and the University of California, Berkeley before entering the film industry in the late 1970s.

He produced or executive produced several films starring Jane Fonda, including *Coming Home* (1978), *The China Syndrome* (1979), *Nine to Five* (1980), *On Golden Pond* (1981) and *The Morning After* (1986). He has been president and chief executive of his production company American Filmworks since 1980. Other credits include *Jack the Bear* (1993) and the television film *By Dawn's Early Light* (1990), for which he also wrote the teleplay.

Gilbert received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture for *On Golden Pond*.
