## Biography

Buddy Adler was an American film producer and production executive. Born in New York City, he began his career writing advertising copy before moving into short stories and then screenwriting for MGM short subjects in the late 1930s. After military service in the US Signal Corps during the Second World War, he became a producer at Columbia Pictures.

His credits include *From Here to Eternity* (1953), *Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing* (1955), *Bus Stop* (1956), *Anastasia* (1956), *Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison* (1957), *South Pacific* (1958) and *The Inn of the Sixth Happiness* (1958). In 1956 he was appointed head of production at 20th Century Fox, a position he held until his death. He received the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award in 1957.
