## Biography

Buford F. Hayes, also known as Bud Hayes, was an American television editor. He began his editing career in 1974 on *The Rockford Files*, after earlier work as an assistant editor on series including *Baretta* and *Quincy*.

Hayes edited episodes of *Galactica 1980* (1980), *The A-Team* (1983), *Miami Vice* (1984), *The Equalizer* (1985) and *Murder, She Wrote* (1991–1993). He had a long run as editor on *In the Heat of the Night* (1988–1992), for which he received an Eddie Award in 1989, and worked on television films such as *The Return of the Six-Million-Dollar Man and the Bionic Woman* (1987) and *Asteroid* (1997). He retired in 1998.

Born on 28 May 1937 in Parkdale, Arkansas, Hayes died on 3 July 2022 in Florence, Oregon.
