Breckinridge is known for his sole film role as the Ruler in *Plan 9 from Outer Space* (1957), directed by Ed Wood. He had prior stage experience, including work in England and later local productions in San Francisco. He was portrayed by Bill Murray in the 1994 film *Ed Wood*.
