Butterfly McQueen was an American actress. Born Thelma McQueen in Tampa, Florida, in 1911, she died in Augusta, Georgia, in 1995. She began her career as a dancer and made her Broadway debut in the late 1930s before entering film.

McQueen first appeared on screen as Prissy in *Gone with the Wind* (1939). She played supporting roles in films including *Cabin in the Sky* (1943), an uncredited part as Lottie in *Mildred Pierce* (1945) and Vashti in *Duel in the Sun* (1946). She later worked in television and received a Daytime Emmy Award in 1980 for an episode of the ABC Afterschool Special series.
