## Biography

C. Henry Gordon, born Henry Racke, was an American stage and film actor. He appeared on Broadway in the 1920s in productions including *The Shanghai Gesture* and *The Drums of Jeopardy*, and made early film appearances before entering Hollywood features in 1930.

He appeared in more than seventy films between 1930 and 1940, often cast as a villain or authority figure. His roles included Dubois in *Mata Hari* (1931), Insp. Ben Guarino in *Scarface* (1932), and Surat Khan in *The Charge of the Light Brigade* (1936).

Gordon died in Los Angeles on 3 December 1940, the day after leg amputation following a blood clot.
