## Biography

Calexico is an American indie rock band formed in 1996 in Tucson, Arizona, by multi-instrumentalists Joey Burns and John Convertino. The pair had previously played together in Howe Gelb’s band Giant Sand. The group takes its name from the California-Mexico border town and is known for blending Americana, indie rock, Latin influences and elements of spaghetti western soundtracks.

Calexico has composed original scores and contributed music to several films and documentaries. Their credits include *The Guard* (2011), for which they provided the incidental music and soundtrack album, as well as *Dead Man's Shoes* (2004) and *Collateral* (2004). The band has also released numerous studio albums and collaborated with artists including Iron & Wine.
