## Biography

Cao Yu (曹郁) is a Chinese cinematographer. He graduated from the Beijing Film Academy in 1997 with a degree in feature film photography and began his career at Beijing Film Studio.

He is known for his collaborations with director Lu Chuan on *Kekexili: Mountain Patrol* (2004), *City of Life and Death* (2009) and *Chronicles of the Ghostly Tribe* (2015). Other credits include *Legend of the Demon Cat* (2017) and *The Eight Hundred* (2020). He is a member of the American Society of Cinematographers and the Chinese Society of Cinematographers.
