## Biography

Carina Lau is a Hong Kong actress and singer. She began her career in television with TVB after moving to Hong Kong from mainland China, making her screen debut in the mid-1980s.

She appeared as Carina in *Project A Part II* (1987) and as Li Lili in *Center Stage* (1991). Lau has collaborated frequently with director Wong Kar-wai, including in *Days of Being Wild* (1990) and *2046* (2004). She is known for portraying Empress Wu Zetian in Tsui Hark's *Detective Dee* films, beginning with *Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame* (2010).

Lau has received Best Actress awards at the Hong Kong Film Awards and the Golden Rooster Awards. She is married to actor Tony Leung Chiu-wai.
