## Biography

Carl Koch (30 July 1892 – 1 December 1963) was a German film director, screenwriter and cinematographer. He collaborated extensively with his wife, the animator Lotte Reiniger, on early silhouette animation films, including serving as cinematographer on *The Adventures of Prince Achmed* (1926).

Koch worked as assistant director and co-writer on Jean Renoir’s *The Rules of the Game* (1939). He also contributed to other Renoir projects and later produced silhouette films for television after settling in England in 1949.
