## Biography

Carl 'Major' Roup was an American actor and later assistant director. Born on 4 April 1915 in Emmett, Idaho, he began his career as a child actor in silent films.

He appeared uncredited in several MGM productions of the 1920s, including as a Doughboy in *The Big Parade* (1925) and as a Train Station Vendor in *Flesh and the Devil* (1926). Other early credits include roles in *The Red Mill* (1927) and *They Learned About Women* (1930).

From the 1930s onwards Roup worked primarily behind the camera as a script clerk and assistant director on numerous features and television series, including *Seven Brides for Seven Brothers* (1954) and episodes of *Mission: Impossible*. He died on 20 March 2002 in North Hollywood, California.
