He directed *Rio* (2011) and *Rio 2* (2014), for which he also contributed the story, as well as *Ice Age: The Meltdown* (2006), *Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs* (2009) and *Ferdinand* (2017). He co-directed *Ice Age* (2002) and *Robots* (2005). Born in Rio de Janeiro, Saldanha moved to New York in 1991. He graduated from the School of Visual Arts in 1993, where he met Chris Wedge, co-founder of Blue Sky Studios, and subsequently joined the studio. He worked as an animator on Wedge’s short film *Bunny*.
