## Biography

Carlos Savage was a Mexican film editor and actor. Born in Mexico City in 1919, he began his career in the late 1930s as an assistant editor to his uncle José Marino at México Films studios. He later worked at Estudios Nacional and received his first editing credit on *La rosa de Xochimilco* (1938).

Over a career spanning until 1995, Savage edited more than a thousand feature films, short films and documentaries. He was a frequent collaborator of director Luis Buñuel, working on films including *The Young and the Damned* (1950), *Él* (1953), *Robinson Crusoe* (1954), *Nazarín* (1959), *The Exterminating Angel* (1962) and *Simon of the Desert* (1965). He received multiple Ariel awards for editing and the Medalla Salvador Toscano in 1987. Savage also appeared as an actor, notably in *La hora de los niños* (1969).
