Carolyn Jones was an American actress. She was born in Amarillo, Texas, on 28 April 1930 and died on 3 August 1983.

Jones began her film career in the early 1950s and appeared in titles including *House of Wax* (1953), *The Big Heat* (1953), *The War of the Worlds* (1953), *The Seven Year Itch* (1955), *Invasion of the Body Snatchers* (1956) and *The Man Who Knew Too Much* (1956). She received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for *The Bachelor Party* (1957). She is best known for playing Morticia Addams in the television series *The Addams Family* (1964–1966) and reprised the role in the 1977 television film *Halloween with the New Addams Family*. Later credits include *Wonder Woman* (1975–1977) as Queen Hippolyta, *Roots* (1977) as Mrs. Moore and the soap opera *Capitol* (1982–1983) as Myrna Clegg.
