Catherine Tate is an English actress, comedian and writer. She was born Catherine Jane Ford on 5 December 1969 in Bloomsbury, London, and trained at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.

Tate created and starred in the BBC sketch series *The Catherine Tate Show* (2004–2007). She played Mrs. Chadband in the 2005 BBC adaptation of *Bleak House*, Donna Noble in *Doctor Who* (2006 Christmas special, series 4 in 2008, and 2023 anniversary episodes), and Nellie Bertram in the US version of *The Office* (2011–2013). Other credits include *Starter for 10* (2006) and voice work in *DuckTales* (2017).

She has received multiple awards and nominations, including British Comedy Awards and BAFTA nominations, for her comedy work.
