## Biography

Chang-rae Lee is a Korean-American novelist and writer for television. Born in Seoul, South Korea, in 1965, he moved to the United States as a child. He is the author of the novels *Native Speaker* (1995), *A Gesture Life* (1999), *Aloft* (2004), *The Surrendered* (2010), *On Such a Full Sea* (2014) and *My Year Abroad* (2021).

Lee studied at Yale University and the University of Oregon. He teaches creative writing at Stanford University. His novels have received awards including the Hemingway Foundation/PEN Award. He has written episodes of the Apple TV+ series *Pachinko* (2022) and served as a co-executive producer.
