## Biography

Charles Correll was an American cinematographer and television director. He began his career as a camera assistant on the series *Dragnet* and worked as a camera operator on *Columbo* and *Kojak* before becoming a credited director of photography on episodic television and feature films.

His cinematography credits include *National Lampoon's Animal House* (1978), *Star Trek III: The Search for Spock* (1984) and the miniseries *The Winds of War* (1983), for which he received a Primetime Emmy Award. He was a member of the American Society of Cinematographers. Correll later directed episodes of series including *MacGyver*, *Melrose Place*, *Beverly Hills, 90210*, *CSI: Crime Scene Investigation* and *Without a Trace*.

Born in Los Angeles, he was the son of radio performer Charles J. Correll Sr. and the brother of director Richard Correll. He died in Tarzana, California, in 2004.
