## Biography

Charles Drake (born Charles Ruppert) was an American actor. He was born in New York City on 2 October 1917. After graduating from Nichols College, he worked as a salesman before turning to acting in 1939 and signing a contract with Warner Bros.

Drake served in the United States Army during the Second World War. He returned to Hollywood after the war and appeared in films including *Winchester '73* (1950), in which he played Steve Miller, and *Harvey* (1950). He later worked at Universal Studios and took on supporting roles in numerous dramas, westerns and other genres, as well as guest appearances in television series such as the original *Star Trek*.

He died in East Lyme, Connecticut, on 10 September 1994.
