## Biography

Charles Judels was a Dutch-born American actor. Born in Amsterdam in 1882, he began his career in vaudeville in the early 1900s and made his Broadway debut in The Ziegfeld Follies of 1912. He appeared in more than 130 films between 1915 and 1949, often using his skill with dialects.

Judels is known for roles including the cheese shop owner in *Swiss Miss* (1938) and a cafe owner in *Ninotchka* (1939). He provided the voices of Stromboli and The Coachman in Disney's *Pinocchio* (1940). His final screen appearance was as a Danite merchant in *Samson and Delilah* (1949). He died in San Francisco in 1969.
