## Biography

Charles K. Feldman was an American film producer and talent agent. Born in New York City, he trained as a lawyer before entering the film industry. In the 1930s he co-founded the Famous Artists Agency, which became one of Hollywood's leading talent agencies, and he represented numerous stars including Greta Garbo, John Wayne and Marilyn Monroe. He pioneered the use of package deals and one-picture contracts as alternatives to long-term studio agreements.

Feldman moved into producing in the 1940s. His credits include executive producer on *Red River* (1948) and producer on *The Glass Menagerie* (1950), *A Streetcar Named Desire* (1951), *The Seven Year Itch* (1955), *Walk on the Wild Side* (1962), *What's New Pussycat?* (1965) and *Casino Royale* (1967). He was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture for *A Streetcar Named Desire*.

Feldman died in Los Angeles in 1968.
