## Biography

Charles Lawton Jr. was an American cinematographer. He began his career as an assistant cameraman at First National in 1926, later working at MGM and United Artists before a long association with Columbia Pictures from 1945 until the early 1960s.

Lawton photographed *The Lady from Shanghai* (1947), several Budd Boetticher Westerns including *The Tall T* (1957), *Ride Lonesome* (1959) and *Comanche Station* (1960), as well as *3:10 to Yuma* (1957), *Two Rode Together* (1961) and *A Raisin in the Sun* (1961). He was a member of the American Society of Cinematographers.
