## Biography

Charles Martin is a British television director. He was born in London and began his career directing children's drama before moving into youth and adult series.

His early work includes the BAFTA-winning children's drama *The Giblet Boys* (2005) and the RTS Award-winning series *My Life as a Popat* (2007), for which he received the BAFTA Children's Award for Breakthrough Talent. He directed nine episodes of the E4 series *Skins* across its first two generations (2008–2013).

Martin has since directed episodes of series including *Wallander* (2012), *Run* (2013), *Marcella* (2016–2018), *Counterpart* (2018), *For Life* (2020) and *His Dark Materials* (2019–2022). He made his feature film debut with *S.M.A.R.T. Chase* (2017).
