## Biography

Charles Mills is a cinematographer and camera operator, also credited as Charles E. Mills and Charles Elliott Mills. He received photographic training while serving in the US Air Force and entered the film industry through the federal government's Minority Labor Pool programme, enacted in 1972. He worked on several television projects and in assistant photography roles before his debut as director of photography on *Boyz n the Hood* (1991).

Mills has been director of photography on *Baby Boy* (2001), *Karla* (2006) and 49 episodes of *CSI: Miami* (2005–2009). His earlier camera operator credits include *National Lampoon's Animal House* (1978) and *Beverly Hills Cop II* (1987). He directed one episode of the television series *In the Heat of the Night* (1993). He is married to Angela Elayne Gibbs.
