## Biography

Charles Okun was an American assistant director, producer and production manager. Born on 8 September 1924 in New York City, he worked in film production from the 1960s onwards.

Okun served as producer on *The Accidental Tourist* (1988), for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture alongside Lawrence Kasdan and Michael Grillo. His other producer credits include *Lovesick* (1983), *Grand Canyon* (1991), *Mumford* (1999) and *Dreamcatcher* (2003). He held executive producer, unit production manager and first assistant director roles on films such as *Silverado* (1985), *Wyatt Earp* (1994) and *French Kiss* (1995).

Okun died on 3 July 2005 in Florida, aged 80, from complications of cancer.
