## Biography

Charles Straumer (1905–1980) was an American cinematographer who worked primarily in television. He began his career in the camera department on feature films, including as assistant cameraman on *Gunga Din* (1939) and camera operator on *Pitfall* (1948).

Straumer served as director of photography on numerous television series. His credits include 74 episodes of *The Adventures of Jim Bowie* (1956–1958), 112 episodes of *The Untouchables* (1959–1963), seven episodes of *Mission: Impossible* (1966), and episodes of *Batman* (1967–1968) and *The Name of the Game* (1968–1971). He won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography for Television for his work on an episode of *Westinghouse Desilu Playhouse*.
