## Biography

Charles Trowbridge was an American actor who appeared in more than 230 films between 1915 and 1958, often in supporting roles as authority figures such as judges, doctors and military officers.

He began his career on the stage, with Broadway credits including *Daddy Long Legs* (1914), *Craig's Wife* (1925) and *Dinner at Eight* (1932). Trowbridge made his screen debut in the silent film *The Fight* (1915) and continued working in Hollywood into the 1950s.

Among his many film credits are roles in *Libeled Lady* (1936), *Angels with Dirty Faces* (1938), *Sergeant York* (1941), *Mildred Pierce* (1945) and *They Were Expendable* (1945).
