Charlie Hunnam, also credited as Charles Matthew Hunnam, is an English actor. He was born on 10 April 1980 in Newcastle upon Tyne and studied performing arts at Cumbria College of Art and Design.

Hunnam began acting in British television, appearing in *Byker Grove* before his breakout role as Nathan Maloney in the Channel 4 series *Queer as Folk* (1999). He gained wider recognition playing Jax Teller in the FX series *Sons of Anarchy* (2008–2014).
