## Biography

Charlie Tyrell is a Canadian filmmaker and director. His short documentaries include *I Thought I Told You to Shut Up!!* (2015), *My Dead Dad’s Porno Tapes* (2018) and *Broken Orchestra* (2019). *My Dead Dad’s Porno Tapes* was shortlisted for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Short Subject and won the Canadian Screen Award for Best Short Documentary.

Tyrell co-directed the feature documentary *The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist* (2026) with Daniel Roher. It premiered at Sundance and received a theatrical release from Focus Features. He has also directed visual segments for the HBO documentary *Great Photo, Lovely Life* (2023). His work has screened at festivals including Sundance, SXSW and TIFF.
