## Biography

Chhabi Biswas was an Indian actor. He played Biswambhar Roy in Satyajit Ray's *The Music Room* (1958).

Biswas was born on 12 July 1900 in Kolkata and died on 11 June 1962 following a car accident. He appeared in two further Ray films, *Devi* (1960) and *Kanchenjungha* (1962), and in Tapan Sinha's *Kabuliwala* (1957). He received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1960 and had earlier worked in amateur theatre and professional stage productions before entering cinema in the 1930s.
