## Biography

Chris Blackwell is a British record producer and film executive producer. Born in London in 1937, he founded Island Records and is known for signing and producing Bob Marley and the Wailers, including the album *Catch a Fire* (1972).

He served as executive producer on the documentary *Marley* (2012), in which he also appeared as himself. Blackwell has executive produced films including *The Harder They Come* (1972), *Choose Me* (1984) and *The Basketball Diaries* (1995). He owns the GoldenEye resort in Jamaica, formerly the home of Ian Fleming.
