## Biography

Chris Bryant was an English screenwriter. Born Christopher Bryan Spencer Dobson on 7 June 1936 in Bolton, Lancashire, he was educated at Radley College and Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, where he read law, and later at McGill University in Canada. He worked as a lawyer and briefly in Canadian politics and television before returning to England.

He collaborated frequently with Allan Scott on screenplays, including *The Man Who Had Power Over Women* (1970), *Don't Look Now* (1973), *Joseph Andrews* (1977) and *The Awakening* (1980). He also wrote the story for *Lady Jane* (1986) and contributed to various television films. Bryant occasionally acted in productions he had written. He died on 27 October 2008 in Burford, Oxfordshire.
