## Biography

Christopher Willis (born 21 August 1978) is an Australian-born British composer and musicologist. He studied music at the University of Cambridge, where he completed a PhD on eighteenth-century music, and piano at the Royal Academy of Music. He began working in film and television scoring in the mid-2000s, initially contributing additional music to Hollywood features.

Willis is known for his long collaboration with Armando Iannucci. He composed for the HBO series *Veep* and scored Iannucci’s feature films *The Death of Stalin* (2017) and *The Personal History of David Copperfield* (2019). He has also written music for Disney projects including the series *Mickey Mouse* (2013–2019) and *The Lion Guard* (2016–2019), as well as *Schmigadoon!* (2021).

His score for *The Death of Stalin* won the International Film Music Critics Association Award for Best Original Score for a Comedy Film and was shortlisted for the Academy Award for Best Original Score. Willis has also composed concert and educational music, including a work for the BBC Proms.
