## Biography

Chuck Adamson was an American television writer, producer and former police officer. Born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1936, he served as a sergeant detective with the Chicago Police Department from 1958 to 1974.

He wrote four episodes of the series *Miami Vice* (1984–1986) and co-created the crime drama *Crime Story* (1986), for which he also wrote and served as coordinating producer. Adamson worked as a technical advisor with director Michael Mann on films including *Thief* (1981), *Beverly Hills Cop* (1984) and *Heat* (1995), the latter based on one of his cases. He appeared in small acting roles in several productions.

Adamson died in Roseburg, Oregon, in 2008.
