## Biography

Claire Dodd (born Dorothy Arlene Dodd) was an American film actress. She appeared in more than sixty films between 1930 and 1942, often in supporting roles as the 'other woman'.

Born on 29 December 1911 in Baxter, Iowa, she began her career as a model in Los Angeles before working in Florenz Ziegfeld productions in New York. She signed contracts with Paramount and later Warner Bros., and freelanced with other studios including Universal.

Among her notable credits are *Footlight Parade* (1933) as Vivian, *Roberta* (1935) as Sophie, and *The Black Cat* (1941) as Margaret Gordon. She twice played Della Street opposite Warren William's Perry Mason, in *The Case of the Curious Bride* (1935) and *The Case of the Velvet Claws* (1936).
