## Biography

Claude Renoir (4 December 1913 – 5 September 1993) was a French cinematographer. Born in Paris, he was the son of actor Pierre Renoir and the nephew of director Jean Renoir. He trained as an apprentice to Boris Kaufman.

Renoir served as director of photography on films including *Monsieur Vincent* (1947), Jean Renoir's *The River* (1951), *Barbarella* (1968), *French Connection II* (1975) and *The Spy Who Loved Me* (1977). He also worked on the documentary *The Mystery of Picasso* (1956). His career ended in the late 1970s as he lost his sight.
