## Biography

Clive Donner was a British film director and editor. Born in London on 21 January 1926, he began working in the film industry as a teenager at Denham Studios and later became an editor at Pinewood Studios. His editing credits include *Scrooge* (1951), *Genevieve* (1953) and *I Am a Camera* (1955).

He made his directorial debut with *The Secret Place* (1957) and went on to direct features such as *The Caretaker* (1963), *Nothing But the Best* (1964), *What's New Pussycat?* (1965) and *Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush* (1968). Donner also directed television films, including *The Scarlet Pimpernel* (1982) and *A Christmas Carol* (1984). He was married to costume designer Jocelyn Rickards from 1971 until her death in 2005. Donner died on 6 September 2010.
